An Inside Look at the New AVIC F-Series: Nav and Connectivity

Can't get your head around the new features in our AVIC F-Series Navigation line? Here is an "Inside Look" at a few of the new features.

Part 1:  "Always On" Navigation and Connectivity Options

TeleAtlasA New Class of Navigation
No more hassling with map discs. Now you don't have to worry about the pesky things being misplaced, damaged, lost, or stolen because we've done away with them for the F-Series navigation line. What's the F? Fast? Freedom? Believe it or not, it's Flash. We've taken the entire TeleAtlas Database that was previously on the two-DVD set, compressed it down, and stored it internally on flash memory.

Mobile Media
Ever wonder how your system can contend with all the different ways we listen to music nowadays? Think about it. There are portable media players like iPod, USB Devices... and CD's of course, though it feels like those are rapidly going the way of the cassette tape. We've created a line of Navigation systems that make it easy to play various digital and audio formats from DVD-R/RW (AVIC-F90BT and AVIC-F900BT only) and CD-R/RW discs, USB memory devices, and even SD Cards. And for all you DivX fans, the AVIC-F90BT and AVIC-F900BT have DivX video playback from DVDs and CDs as well. The direct digital connection to iPod®* and USB memory devices** allows high speed control and searching, while delivering clean and clear sound. Furthermore, the flexibility of using multiple types of media players means that we can play a wide range of files types as well, such as MP3, WMA, iTunes AAC, and MPEG-4 video files. We've even got a build-in SD Card slot in all of our F-Series units for convenience. **see below for more information and limitations

iPod® Control Made SimpleCD-IU230V
With the new CD-IU230V cable, you can directly control your music and videos from your iPod® on the AVIC-F90BT (cable included), AVIC-F900BT, and AVIC-F700BT.

The AVIC-F500BT also offers this but requires the CD-IU200VM cable instead.

You can find these features and more on our new F-Series Navigation units: AVIC-F90BT, AVIC-F900BT, AVIC-F700BT, and AVIC-F500BT

>>> Part 2: Displays & Illumination

NOTE: Do not use your Pioneer system if doing so will divert your attention in any way from the safe operation of your vehicle. Always observe safe driving rules. In some states certain operations of devices while driving may be illegal. Where such regulations apply, they must be obeyed.

*To use Voice Control to access all iPod content, first connect an iPod to the navigation system, select “iPod” as the AV source, and remain in “iPod” mode until cataloguing is completed -- a message will be displayed when cataloguing is completed. Cataloguing of iPod content will not occur otherwise, which may limit use of Voice Control to access all iPod content.

**If music files stored on an external storage device (USB or SD) are played when the system is in Route Guidance Mode, the volume of the navigation guidance voice will be the same as the volume of the music files being played, even if a different “Master” volume or “Voice” volume or “Dynamic” volume has been selected in the “Sound Settings” menu.

iPod® control requires optional CD-IU230V for AVIC-F90BT, AVIC-F900BT and AVIC-F700BT, CD-IU200VM for AVIC-F500BT. Navigation systems are compatible with third generation and newer iPods® featuring the dock connector. Functionality of iPod Touch series may be limited. iPod and iTunes are trademarks of Apple Computer, Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Unauthorized copying of music or other files is strictly prohibited.

iTunes® AAC means AAC file encoded by iTunes®; not compatible with AAC DRM files downloaded from iTunes® music store. iTunes AAC files can be played via iPod, but iTunes AAC files via SD/USB are not compatible.

Not every USB device is compatible. Compatible with MSC (Mass Storage Class) and USB memory device only. Not compatible with DRM (Digital Rights Management) contents and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) connection players. Unauthorized copying of music is strictly prohibited. Note: Some files might not play.
